November 6, 2025 - OAO Fall Business Meeting

The OAO Fall Business Meeting will be held in person on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, at The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. This evening event includes dinner, an OAO Business Meeting, an award presentation, and special presentations. This event is FREE for OAO members. 

We will be honouring and celebrating an exceptional individual, Dr. James Posluns, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. See Jim's bio below.

    Dr. David Brown

Dr. David Brown, President, ODA, is an alumnus of The University of Western Ontario and has been in private practice as an orthodontist in Newmarket and Maple since 1989. He has been actively involved in organized dentistry since graduation, serving in all executive positions for the York Region Dental Society (YRDS), including President from 1996 to 1997. He also represented the YRDS at General Council for two six-year terms. At the ODA, he was a member of the Annual Spring Meeting (ASM) Committee for over 10 years, serving as chair in 1992 and 1995. In 1996, Dr. Brown received an ODA Service Award for his contributions to the profession. He participated in the Sustainable and Equitable Funding Advisory Committee and the Advocacy Coordination Task Force. Dr. Brown chaired the Political Action Committee from 2015 to 2018; he is also a Political Contact Dentist. He has served on the Human Resources and Compensation Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee (GNC), and chaired the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee and the Articles and Bylaws Sub-Committee. Dr. Brown currently sits on the Government Dental Programs Working Group, the Human Resources and Compensation Committee and the CDA General Assembly Representatives Committee.

        Timothy Szeto

Timothy Szeto is an Executive Financial Consultant and Division Manager of the Toronto Central and Toronto Richmond Hill offices of IG Wealth Management, one of Canada’s largest and most established financial planning firms. Timothy received his undergraduate degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo with top honours, minoring in Economics, and optioning in Biomechanics and Management Sciences. After graduation, he worked with Sunnybrook Hospital as a Research Engineer and published a medical paper entitled, “The X-ray light valve: a Potentially Low-Cost, Digital Radiographic Imaging System – a Liquid Crystal Cell Design for Chest Radiography”. About award recipient Dr. James Posluns
James Posluns, or Jim as he is commonly known, obtained his DDS, Diploma in Orthodontics and Masters of Education all from the University of Toronto. In addition to private practice, he has been a part of the Undergraduate and Graduate orthodontic programs at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto continuously since 1998, save for a six-month hiatus at UCSF in 2011.   In 2012, Jim returned to U of T full-time, where he serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Affairs for the Faculty of Dentistry.   

Jim is involved in many aspects of organized dentistry.  Clearly, being on the line at the OAO was the best of times.  The experience at the OAO led to becoming a long-time board member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, where in addition to being an examiner for the Fellowship Examination, he is treasurer, past section lead for the speciality examination in Orthodontics and current Associate Examiner-in-Chief for the NDSE.
