DESCRIPTION:OAO Members\, join us for the OAO Spring Business Meeting on May 23\, 2019\, at the Westin Prince Hotel\, Toronto. An evening event including a presentation by Irwin Fefergrad on The Changing Role and Challenges of Regulation in Ontario in the 21st\nCentury.  \nThe conversation will be around right – touch regulation. What is at the heart of our values that ensure we are fulfilling our mandate? Changes in self-regulation and greater accountability will be discussed. \nInvitation to OAO Members: Our colleagues at the Toronto Orthodontic Club\, welcome you to attend their full-day Spring Lecture at the same hotel\, the following day\, on May 24\, 2019. If you are interested\, register on their website\n  \nGuest Speaker: Irwin Fefergrad\, C.S.\, B.A.\, B.C.L.\, LL.B. \nIrwin Fefergrad has the distinction of being the first lawyer in the history of the Law Society of Ontario to achieve a double specialty in Civil Litigation and in Health Law. He currently maintains his specialty in Health Law. In private practice for nearly 30 years\, in 2000 he was appointed the Registrar of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. \nMr. Fefergrad also held the position of Executive Director of the Canadian Dental Regulatory Authorities Federation (CDRAF) and of the International Society of Dental Regulators\, an organization addressing regulatory concerns on an international level. \nIn October 2015\, Mr. Fefergrad was appointed as co-chair of the Transparency Working Group (TWG)\, created by the Human Health Resources Strategy Division of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC)\, to facilitate the coordination and development of guidance for health regulatory colleges in the implementation of transparency and accountability initiatives. \nMr. Fefergrad is the Chair of the Advisory Group for Regulatory Excellence (AGRE) in Ontario. He was appointed Assistant Professor (adjunct) at the University of Toronto. Faculty of Dentistry where he is the Course Director of the Ethics\, Professionalism and Law program. \n\nAgenda* \n6:00 pm – Registration and Cocktails\n6:45 pm – Welcome and Dinner\n7:30 pm – Live webstream begins\n7:30 pm – Spring General Meeting (AGM)\n8:00 pm – Presentation\n8:35 pm – Q&A\n9:00 pm – Evening ends\n*subject to change \nHotel special group rate: \nThe Westin Prince\, Toronto for 184 CAD per night – Book here \nParking is free for attendees
