SUMMARY:2017 Fall Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Title: Infection Prevention and Control Update\nGuest Speaker: Dr. Chris Swayze\, HBSc\, DDS\, MBA\, Manager\, Reports\, Professional Conduct and Regulatory Affairs\, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario \nDr. Swayze will be speaking about the changes to infection prevention and control (IPAC) complaints and investigations concerning public health units\, the College's Guideline and changes\, new Public Health Ontario checklists. \nDr. Chris Swayze is the Manager\, Reports\, in the Professional Conduct and Regulatory Affairs Department of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. In his role as Manager\, he is responsible for overseeing a team of dentists who investigate members with respect to allegations of professional misconduct\, including infection prevention and control investigations. Dr. Swayze is also the contact person at the College for Public Health Ontario (PHO)\, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and the 36 Public Health Units (PHU) with respect to potential infection control lapses and investigations in dental offices. \nAlso in attendance to answer Quality Assurance questions during Dr. Swayze's presentation: \nDr. Michael A. Gardner\, DDS\, Director\, Quality Assurance\, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario \nDr. Michael Gardner received his DDS from the Faculty of Dentistry\, University of Toronto in 1986. While maintaining a private practice\, he joined the RCDSO staff in 1996 on a part-time basis\, serving as an Investigator and Monitoring Officer\, and in 1998\, he became the College’s first Professional Practice Advisor. In 2000\, Dr. Gardner left private practice to join the full-time staff of the College\, and was soon appointed Assistant to the Registrar in the Complaints\, Investigations and Hearings area of the College.
