About OAO
The Ontario Association of Orthodontists (OAO) is the voluntary organization of certified orthodontic specialists in Ontario. Our mission is to serve both the providers and the recipients of specialist orthodontic care in the province.
We are the official voice of Ontario orthodontists to organized dentistry, educational institutions, professional licensing bodies, the public and government. Every OAO member is a certified orthodontic specialist, and we help patients make informed decisions about orthodontic care through education and information.
What we do
Inform patients
We help the public understand orthodontic care and why seeing a certified specialist matters.
Advocate for the specialty
We represent Ontario orthodontists to the RCDSO, ODA, AAO, CAO, GLAO and government, and act when specialty credentials are misrepresented.
Support learning
Twice-yearly business meetings, Core 1 lectures and a biennial scientific session keep members up to date.
Connect colleagues
We bring Ontario’s orthodontists together to share knowledge and support one another.

Leadership
Board of Directors
The OAO is run by a volunteer Board of five to nine directors, elected each year by members from among the Active membership. Nominations open each year through the Nominating Committee.
Industry partners
Become a sponsor
Sponsors make OAO meetings, lectures and the scientific session possible, and connect with orthodontic specialists across Ontario. Sponsorship opportunities are offered for OAO events.
Events and education
The OAO holds business meetings in the spring and fall, Category 1 Core lectures, and a biennial scientific session. Core 1 lectures, worth 6 CE credits, are free for Active, Academic and Student members.
We also share courses for orthodontic assistants and hygienists, and partner events from organizations such as the GLAO.
